Cleaning off the cobwebs….

Hey there! Ignore the date on that last blog post please! It has been awhile…. It’s been quite a year. I started 2018 off with the worst case of the flu I’ve had in years. And then 10 days later, I proceeded to fall off a chair at school, shatter my wrist, and totally change my life. After two surgeries, an unimaginable number of hours of occupational and physical therapy (that continue to this day!), and over 3 months when I couldn’t even lift my camera, I am back at it. Thank goodness! Photography has always been a passion that allowed me to feel free and creative. Not having that outlet was awful!

I had intentions of sharing my fall sessions over the winter…. and since that didn’t happen I want to share those now!

Every fall for the last several years has included the always hysterical Veto photo shoot. I cannot begin to tell you how much I love this family! We laugh until we cry. Every. Single. Time. And how gorgeous are these two girls??

I had some awesome senior sessions last fall and this spring. It’s hard to believe these kids are all off in college now!

Of course, my favorite senior this year was my son Matt. He HATES having his picture taken. Like seriously hates it. But he loves his mama and will do (almost) anything for her. ❤️

And of course I shot two of my favorite models…. little Miss Jillian and my own Bailey. I also got to shoot the beautiful Macy on her family farm! These girls have all the moves down!

I did a few family sessions that included a former student, who is now dad to a little look alike bundle of energy, and a then current student and her amazing family.

I’ve got a ton of sessions coming up this fall. I cannot wait to get out there and shoot some families and seniors! And I’ll work on sharing them as soon as possible! 💕

Class of 2018

It hit me the other day that … OMG! I have a Senior living in my house!  I’ve been taking calls about doing Senior photos and it hadn’t occurred to me to book my own son.  He’s not a fan of having photos taken, but I promised to make it painless and FUN!  I’m not sure he believes me, but it will be.  Seniors are one of my favorite things to shoot.  They are always excited, because this is often the first step to being done with High School!I have 3 packages available for Seniors to fit whatever you are looking for.  Take a peek at my Seniors page for details.   Senior photos are about YOU!  (Ok… and your mom. 😀)  I feel strongly that your photos portray you with the things that mean a lot to you or show activities that you love.    I am open to any location, but I also have ideas if you need them.  Bring outfit changes, props of any kind, and let’s have fun!  (Really Matt.  It will be fun!)  Send me an email at laurie@lauriecapanphotography.com or text me at 309-235-6302.

Almost done …

I’ve known Kara’s mom for years. Many more than I care to think about! I watched her grow up as she went through the elementary school where I teach. Then as often happens when kids leave my school, I didn’t see her for several years. When I saw her again this fall as a member of the swim team my daughter is on, I couldn’t believe how beautiful and poised she was. (You have to be poised to be a diver! Oh my goodness, that looks scary to me!) I was thrilled to take her cheer and swim senior photos. We had so much fun together! Kara is definitely beautiful, inside and out! Good luck as you finish your senior year!

Happy New Year!!

(Cue the sound of crickets …)  Do you hear that?  That’s the sound of a blogger who has not been blogging!  Ugh!  This fall has been much busier than I ever imagined, which is a good thing, but I do have many sessions to get up on the blog.  And I will … the slower winter months are here.  So…. something kind of big happened… My first anniversary of being an *official* business is here!  I was pretty nervous when I first hit the “post” button on my Facebook page.  I love what I do, but I wasn’t sure how it would go.  I mean, I knew the Vetos would be back for photos (Best clients and friends ever! Love you guys!), but would anyone else?? Guess what?!  They came!   I have been truly blessed this year to photograph some amazing people.    Blog1Blog2 I want to thank every single one of you for supporting me this year.  It has been an honor to document the moments of your life.  I look forward to whatever 2017 brings me.  I hope to continue to grow my business, so please tell your friends!  I also want to get more of you to order prints.  Get those photos on the wall or in albums, people!  You deserve it!  ❤️  Happy New Year!

Love,
Laurie

Senior? How is that possible?!?

Senior season had begun!  I love working with seniors.  They are so excited for their last year of high school, so they can move onto to bigger and better things.  They rule the school.  And most of them are having a blast, living life to the fullest.  I was thrilled when Anna’s mom contacted me to take her photos.  I’ve known Anna for as long as I remember.  She was in the same preschool as my kids, and when she came to the elementary school that I teach at, she called me “Mrs. Matthew.”  She only knew me as Matt’s mom!  She was an absolute joy to have as a 3rd grader.  Smart, silly, always ready to have fun.  But when she showed up for her photo shoot, I was stunned!  She is gorgeous!AG3A8964  AG3A8782AG3A8841-Edit-2AG3A8812-4Stunning, smart, and with that great sense of humor that I remember from 3rd grade. AG3A8910AG3A8798  AG3A8803I can’t wait to see where life takes Anna, because she is going places! AG3A8952 One last photo… one of my favorites.  This is 3rd grade Anna twinning with kindergarten Bailey! ❤️  JA 086
